Achilles healed; Ó Lionáird back on track
Let’s get straight to it: Ciarán Ó Lionáird, 3:52 miler, World finalist, European indoor medallist, and now, most importantly of all, a Jumping The Gun guest. He joined us through skype tonight for an in-depth chat about his achilles surgery, his comeback, his current training, and his plans for the summer.
Ó Lionáird delves deep into his recent history, both on and off the track, and explains why he absolutely despises cross training, and how he made it back to fitness despite having a career-threatening injury for 18 months.
Towards the end of part one of our two-part interview, he unequivocally answers a number of questions about doping in athletics, whether his own breakthrough and the performances of the Oregon Track Club are legitimate, and whether he’s ever come across doping first-hand during his career.
